Personalized medicine is one of the grand societal challenges of the present and future. To strengthen the nation-wide interdisciplinary and strategic collaboration in the field of personalized medicine, the Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine (OEPPM) was founded by the three Medical Universities of Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck and the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine constitutes a national networking platform aiming to connect all stakeholders and interested parties in the field. The platform is open to individuals and organizations that would like to contribute to the future of personalized medicine in Austria and beyond.

The Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.

The platform thrives on the vivid participation of its members

ÖPPM aims to establish an information platform for university, non-university and industrial research initiatives in the context of personalized medicine and to promote basic, translational and clinical research in Austria.

The official ÖPPM kick-off was constituted by the inaugural event and scientific symposium held on October 19-20, 2017 at the Van Swieten Hall of the Medical University of Vienna. The meeting offered a comprehensive interdisciplinary scientific program and provided first opportunities for interactive planning and discussion rounds aiming to identify cross-cutting issues and partners for the future activities of the platform.

Building up a comprehensive information platform is one of the main objectives of ÖPPM. A webpage dedicated to personalized medicine will provide a platform for all ÖPPM members to present themselves and identify potential collaboration partners. The webpage will inform about the latest scientific and technological developments in the field and will add to the growing awareness of the latest challenges the concept of personalized medicine presents to the Austrian society.
