1st Vienna Symposium on Machine Learning in Medicine & Biology 2019, 5 June

We cordially invite you to the "1st Vienna Symposium on Machine Learning in Medicine & Biology" (Flyer), which will take place in Vienna on 5 June 2019, 2pm to 6.30pm at CeMM in Vienna (https://cemm.at/contact/google-maps/).

The "1st Vienna Symposium on Machine Learning in Biology & Medicine" is designed as a community gathering and a networking opportunity for machine learning researchers from all of Austria - following the success of similar meetings in the areas of next generation sequencing ("Vienna NGS Symposium") and chemical biology ("Austrodrugs") organized at CeMM. The scientific focus will be on new machine learning methods and relevant applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in biology and medicine.

At the core of this event will be a series of short presentations by researchers from Austria working in the wider field, with ample opportunities for interactions, discussion, and networking. Furthermore, we are happy to announce a keynote lecture by Thomas Lengauer, who will present his groundbreaking research on using machine learning for the improvement of HIV therapy, as a striking early example of machine learning having a very real and positive impact for patients in Europe.

The event is part of the activities of the ÖPPM working group “Infrastructure and Technology” and is free to attend (thanks to the support of CeMM, MedUni Vienna, and the Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine) and open to all: developers and users of machine learning methods, researchers in biology and medicine, students, postdocs, professors, physicians, and anyone else interested in this emerging field.
