3rd Annual Meeting
The 3rd annual meeting of the Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine was held under the title “Personalized Medicine: Expectations and Economic Aspects” from October 14-15, 2019 at the Van Swieten Saal of the Medical University of Vienna.
We kindly thank all of you who contributed to the success of the 3rd annual meeting! In total, we counted more than 160 participants, 10 exhibition booths, 2 lunch satellites, and 25 poster presentations. Take a look at the program and the abstract booklet here. This year the conference focused on technological, regulatory, and economic aspects as well as expectations and limitations of Personalized Medicine encompassed by diverse lectures like: “Financial Incentives for Personalized Medicine: Can We Get It Right?” by Apostolos Tsiachristas, University of Oxford, UK, or “Potential Challenges to Doctor-Patient Trust in Personalized Medicine” by Shlomo Cohen, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. In our public lecture “personalisierte Medizin im 21. Jahrhundert: Was können wir erwarten?” we focused on the perception of Personalized Medicine over time by different social groups and its integration in our own health system. The diverse questions raised in the lectures were then answered and discussed in the follow-up workshops regarding the economic aspects and the expectations of Personalized Medicine, which were very well perceived, and at the panel discussion.
We thank you all (!) for your attendance and hard work. And here we are, already looking forward to our next meeting, so please:
Save the date: The 4th Annual Meeting of the ÖPPM will be held from October 8-10, 2020.
